Commercial Vehicle Oil Leak Repairs

Ford Commercial Vehicle Oil Leak Repairs

Ford Commercial Truck & Van Oil Leak Repairs

An oil leak with a commercial vehicle is different than the same problem with a privately owned car for a number of reasons.

First, people driving a commercial vehicle aren't as familiar with it as someone is with their own car, and might not know to check or top of the oil before driving. Driving while low on oil can lead to a vehicle break-down, or at least a problem with the vehicle not lasting as long as it should.

Second, depending on the nature of the business, it can cause a serious problem to drive to a client's address and drip oil on their property. Alternatively, it doesn't provide a good impression of your business when potential customers see the cars and trucks aren't well maintained, it makes them wonder what kind of service the business is going to provide when they don't even take care of their own equipment.

Why Oil Leaks Must Be Repaired Quickly

The only thing worse for a car or truck over the course of its life than forgetting to change the oil is to drive it regularly while low on oil. The oil lubricates and cools the internal moving parts of the engine, without it, friction wears the pistons and gaskets down prematurely and the heat can warp the internal components or cause damage to the secondary systems located on or near the engine block. Such issues lead to more expensive repairs in the best of scenarios, but in the worst-case situation can cause a complete engine failure which would be more expensive to repair than to simply scrap the vehicle and buy a new one.

What Can Happen if Oil Leaks on Commercial Vehicles Aren't Repaired?

The problem with oil leaks on a commercial vehicle is two-fold. The damage caused by running the vehicle while low on oil is more expensive than having the leak fixed promptly. Also, nobody likes the idea of oil leaking. In reality, most customers aren't going to do this, but theoretically, they can hold the company legally responsible for the price of cleaning up any oil leaked on their property, and they will almost certainly hire the competition the next time they need similar services after fouling a driveway or parking lot.

Likewise, if employees need to drive the car home they aren't going to want one with an oil leak, and they aren't going to enjoy working for a company that provides faulty equipment which is likely to break down.
